Με ατού της, λοιπόν, την εύκολη προσβασιμότητα αλλά και τις υπέροχες αρχοντικές εικόνες που προσφέρει στους επισκέπτες της με φυσικό φόντο το Αιγαίο, είναι να αναρωτιέται κανείς ποιος θα είναι ο επόμενος προορισμός του;

Andros is the world’s top island for nature and cultural experiences

It is the ideal destination for an unforgettable “journey” to enchanting nature, arts and history according to the travel website Wanderlust Marriage

Andros tops the list of the 7 best islands in the world for nature and cultural experiences, according to Wanderlust Marriage, a travel website that specializes in unconventional destinations and is read by thousands of couples in the US and UK. The list’s creator, who has received an award for his writing from the North American Travel Writers Association, traveled with his wife to dozens of places around the globe to complete his research.

In 2022, he accepted the municipality’s invitation to experience spring in Andros and was hosted with the support of local business network CTN Andros. According to the recommended list, Andros is the perfect destination for an unforgettable “journey” into the enchanting nature, arts and history. Thanks to its neoclassical architecture, Chora Andros has a special charm, while Batsi is considered a cosmopolitan fishing village nestled in a beautiful bay and surrounded by green mountains and a sandy coast. The Monastery of Panahrantou is “perched” on the north side of Mount Gerakones and offers stunning views of the whole of Andros. The original chapel of Panahrantou Monastery dates back to 960 AD with the marble at the entrance having formed a curve thanks to the footsteps of visitors for over 1,000 years.

The next places on the list are occupied by Zanzibar, the southeastern islands of Alaska, Sicily, Tasmania, the islands of Japan and Borneo in Malaysia. “Andros has an invaluable cultural, historical and natural treasure that we have made it a priority to showcase in the off-season. During the last Halloween, the increase in visitor numbers exceeded 38% compared to last year, while at Easter the travel flow is expected to be higher,” said Andros Mayor Dimitris Lottsaris.
